Unburdened

What burdens
we carry!
The guilt
of misdeeds,
anger,
jealousy
resentment,
fear,
suspicion...
How we poison
our minds,
our emotions
our physical well-being!
How we pollute
our homes
our families,
our neighbourhood,
our world!

Yet one came,
pierced
for our transgressions,
crushed
for our iniquities,
punished
to bring us peace -
by his wounds
we are healed.

Then why carry
the burden
he has carried?
Bring it to him,
lay it at his feet,
be healed
and go free!
