He Came for Us

Majesty
beyond imagining
from all eternity,
God the Son,
one with the Father
and the Holy Spirit,
creation
made through him,
hands
that had flung
galaxies
and stars
and suns
into space.

Holiness and purity,
standard
and judge
of right and wrong.

Love and humility
beyond imagining,
he came,
became
one of us,
weary,
hungry,
always loving,
teaching,
healing.

He died,
gave himself.
He lives,
gives himself
to forgive
and comfort
and lead us
home.
