Fill Us Anew!

Into his own the Spirit poured,
empowering promise of their Lord,
with flaming tongues and roar of wind
to kindle heart, renew the mind.
Released from fear they spoke the word
in native tongues to all who heard.

Two thousand years have come and gone -
the word of grace - redemption's won!
With programmes and the latest tricks
and technological techniques,
with liturgy or with noisy din
we seek to bring the people in.

Two thousand years ago the one
who said, "My work is done!"
gave us the task to spread the word
that all who hear,
repent, believe,
his grace receive.

Your work is done, ours still to do!
Fill us anew!
Renew our mind and kindle heart!
Never alone your work is done -
come, Spirit, come!
