Who is He?

From womb
to tomb
the question came,
“Who is he,
this son of Mary,
this carpenter
from Nazareth?
Who is he,
this teacher,
this healer?
Who is he
against whom
their anger flares
in bloody cross?
Who is he
who, dying,
loves them,
asks the Father
to forgive?”

Listen
to the angel's answer,
“Your Saviour,
Christ the Lord,
is born
in Bethlehem.
Find him there
in stable bare
in manger laid.”

Beyond the tomb
a doubting friend,
seeing
and believing now,
“My Lord
and my God!”

Who is he?
I know his name,
I hear his call -
for me he came -
“My Lord
and God,
you are
my all!”
