Do We Want You?

Do we want you, Baby Jesus?
Do we want you here at all?

Don't want to be involved -
Have a cattle shed to lay your head.
Shepherds, wise men,
came to see you!
But mostly
we ignored your birth,
except old Herod -
He didn't want you, Jesus!

Do we want you, Manly Jesus?
Do we want you here at all?

Perfect Teacher, Pure Example,
Healing Person...
We have a place for you -
a cross for you!
True, women cried,
and Joseph loaned a tomb.
But most of us just gaped
or laughed at you!

Do we want you, risen Jesus?
Do we want you here at all?

Keep you in that feed-box
or place you on that cross.
Do we want you as our Saviour,
and own you as our Lord?
