The Path of Peace

Everybody longs
for peace -
or is it just
a piece
of what another holds,
or maybe
a piece
of the action!

The peace-makers
of the world
devise
a road-map.
Yet combatants
on either side
suspect
it favours
“them”,
not us!

The edges
are broken,
the road
now pot-holed
and cratered
by bitter
violent acts
of hate.

Centuries ago
he came -
the Prince of Peace.
We flogged him then,
already bruised
by human lying
accusation.
We dragged him
to Golgotha,
the Place of the Skull,
and killed him
there.

But he’s alive!
Death couldn’t hold
the Prince of Peace!
He turned
our vilest
aggressive act
into the seal
of peace.

The path of peace
is open!
We needn’t
blow ourselves
and one another
apart
any more!

He calls!
Don’t crucify him
again!
The time is now -
so come!
