Justified!

I know myself,
my reasons why -
the grounds by which
I justify
the deeds
and attitudes
and thoughts
by which I live,
the name
I claim
without resort
to any other.

Yet I can never
stand alone
for one has come
and lived
and died.

I look at him -
my name is sin,
my life pretense!
I stand condemned
without defence!
No human pride
is satisfied.
I claim
the name
of him who died -
in him alone
I’m justified!
