They Found Him

They found him there -
a baby in a feed-box.
They worshipped,
gave their gifts.
But Herod plotted murder.

They heard him there -
in Palestine,
teacher, healer,
without equal.
And leaders planned his death.

They saw him there -
dying on a cross.
Some laughed,
some cried.
"Father, forgive them."

But then,
those tear-dimmed eyes
saw him
alive indeed!

And do we celebrate
his birth
as if he did not come
and is not Lord?
