Giving Evidence

My life,
my words, my attitudes, my actions,
are witnesses.
Day by day
they are giving evidence
to others
seeking the right verdict
to the meaning of life
in the Person of Christ.

Sometimes,
alas,
I fail to give
the truth,
the whole truth,
and nothing but the truth
about him
who is the Truth.

I say, "He lives!",
then live as if
he's dead.
I say, "He saves!"
Then other words,
unkind or thoughtless,
or mean and selfish life,
declare he saves me not.

"Lord Jesus,
make my witness true
through and through
for you
each day!"
